DENTAL BRIDGES --- Simlar to the functionality of implants and partial dentures, bridges are used to replace missing teeth. As shown in the diagram to the left, these units are cemented on top of the teeth next to the missing space. They also require preparation of the teeth to insure a proper contour and a natural fit. Dr. Nguyen will fabricate a temporary bridge to help protect the teeth and to also give you a product that mimics the final restoration. As with any new crown or bridge, maintaining good oral hygiene is very important as it will prolong the life and success of the restoration. Each year we take radiographs of your teeth and track your home care. At these appointments we will let you know if there is any change in the integrity of any of your dental work.
DENTAL CROWNS --- Sometimes referred to as "caps," preserve the functionality of damaged teeth. A dental crown may be used to protect a cracked tooth, restore functionality of a tooth with excessive decay or replace a pre-existing crown. During the dental crown procedure, the Doctor prepares the tooth and makes a molded impression to send to a dental laboratory. A fitted, temporary crown is created during this visit to temporarily protect the tooth while the final restoration is being made in the dental laboratory. Once completed, the tooth crown is cemented or adhesively bonded at a next visit.
